Midlands landscape and fencing timber specialist M&M Timber has become the first in the country to adopt the new process and offer a 15 year guarantee. Micronized timber also brings other benefits such as improved corrosion protection of metal fixings and a natural, fresh and consistent colour. Within hours of the announcement, the firm was signing up agreements with some of the nation’s top distributors. Long respected manufacturer and supplier of top quality agricultural and landscaping products, M&M Timber now has the distinction of being one of the first companies in Europe to offer machine rounded timber, pressure treated in accordance with Class 4 use and BS 8417. M&M Timber has invested more than £200,000 in drying kilns to ensure the timber is correctly conditioned thus optimising the treatment process to achieve a desired service life of 15 years. “This must rank as one of the most significant developments ever undertaken by our company,” says M&M Timber’s Managing Director Nigel Poyner, “There’s no doubt that micronized timber is the way forward and, through our close association with Osmose, we are now on our way to securing market leadership in this important sector of the industry.” The new manufacturing and treatment process is already well proven in USA markets but it represents a significant ‘first’ for M&M Timber in the UK on this scale, and is already attracting the interest of top name buyers. A recent presentation of the benefits of M&M’s micronized timber resulted in contracts with Mole Avon Town & Country Stores and the McVeigh Parker Group, both major distributors of agricultural fencing supplies.
